Demonstrations

Demonstrations are contributions that allow researchers to present interactive experiences or technologies in a hands-on way for OzCHI conference attendees. Your demonstration can be an interactive experience, an interesting prototype, an art performance, or a novel system–or a combination of the above! We encourage submissions from any area of human-computer interaction, games, design, digital and interactive art, and entertainment.

On-Site Details

Demonstrations at OzCHI 2026 are planned as fully in-person. We ask authors who would like to present a demonstration at the conference to detail their envisioned setup in the paper submission. Demonstrations will be presented alongside posters in dedicated time slots throughout the conference.

Please note that the Demo track is non-archival. This means accepted demo and abstracts will not appear in the ACM Digital Library or published as part of the OzCHI 2026 conference proceedings. However, authors name and demo titles will be published to the demo webpage for record purposes.

Preparing and Submitting Your Demonstration Submission

Submissions must have the following components: (1) Paper, (2) Supplementary Video, and (3) Snapshot Image.

(1) Paper

Step 1: Download the ACM Master Template

• LaTeX users download the template here or use the Overleaf template.
• Word users download the template here.
• Please ensure that you use the correct template. The single-column format must be used for the reviewing phase. Using different templates or formats may result in desk rejection.

Step 2: Prepare your abstract

• Develop a proposal outlining the title, context of the demo, equipment details, interactivity, and how conference delegates will engage with it.

Step 3: To complete submission, your abstract should include

• A description of the installation or technical system as well as the research problem it addresses.
• A description of how the work contributes to current HCI research, addressing its background, rationale, and novelty.
• Submissions must be non-anonymised. Confidentiality of submissions will be kept during the review process. Rejected submissions will remain confidential.
• Submissions must be in PDF format.
• Up to 4-5 pages in the single-column ACM format, including references.
• Be self-contained, i.e., readable for people who are not able to attend the conference or view the video.
• Ensure alignment with the conference theme, On the Edge.

(2) Supplementary Video

A video is a good supplementary medium to communicate your proposed demonstration. Submitted videos will be used for review purposes. The videos may also be displayed on-site during the conference. Make sure you have permission for all content, including background music and graphical material.-

Video guidelines:

• The video must not be longer than 5 minutes
• The file must be no larger than 400 MB.
• The video should be submitted in MP4 format.
• We suggest using an online repository (e.g., Onedrive or Dropbox) to store your video, or uploading to YouTube, and paste the link into the submission form
• A good demo should be visually inviting, and the experience should be engaging for the attendees. The system/experience should be self explanatory with limited guidance. Past demos example: Brainstorm Arena and ReCAT in HRC.
  
  

(3) Snapshot Image New this year

An eye-catching snapshot image enables attendees to quickly recognise your work among the digital crowd. Make sure you have permission for all visual content used. Image guidelines:

• The snapshot must be in the square aspect ratio of 1:1.
• Minimum resolution must be 100 pixels per inch.
• The file must be no larger than 1MB.
• The image should be submitted in JPG, PNG, or PDF format.

How To Submit

Please complete your submission by submitting all necessary details to the web form. Kindly note that each accepted demonstration will be provided a standard on-site booth with the following items:

• Interactive space of 5 × 2 × 2 metres (height × width × depth) space
• Two chairs
• One table
• Two power outlets
• Standard Wi-Fi
• Additional items such as monitors may be available but not guaranteed. Please bring your own if you need one.

Review Criteria

Submissions will be evaluated on:

• Relevance to OzCHI and the conference theme
• Novelty and contribution to HCI
• Quality of interaction design
• Engagement potential for conference attendees
• Feasibility of on-site deployment

Logistics and Setup

Information related to room, storage, and setup and tear down schedules will be updated here once it is finalised.

Important Dates

• 17th August 2025 Submission deadline
• 21st September 2025: Notification of acceptance

Dates are given in Anywhere on Earth (AoE) time zone. The deadline for submission is 11:59 PM AoE on the specified date. You can check the current AoE time here.
