Student Volunteers

OzCHI invites applications for student volunteer positions. Applications close on Friday, September 3rd 2010.

Volunteers will be preferably graduate students from disciplines and backgrounds related to Human-Computer Interaction undertaking Masters or Doctoral Research. No experience is necessary. We are looking for enthusiastic, intelligent, and reliable students.

If you would like to apply to be a student volunteer, please write an abstract about your research of approximately 500 words, and then email it to sv.chair[AT]ozchi.org. Successful applicants will be announced by Friday September 24th. Priority will be give to students admitted to the Doctoral Consortium. (DC applicants wishing to apply may simply submit their DC application and need not write a separate abstract).

Student volunteers are expected to be present during the entire week of 22 ­ 26 November 2010 and to work approximately 20 hours during this week. Some student volunteers will also be needed in the afternoon of 20 ­ 21 November 2010 for preparation work. The workload is only indicative, as it depends on a number of factors. Student volunteers typically assist with sessions, check badges at doors, help operate the registration desk, help with traffic flow, and provide general assistance that helps the conference runs smoothly. Student volunteers receive free student registration in return for their efforts.
